It will soon be banned because of all the clowns out there pushing the envelope, or should I say poking the bear.

Couple of guys here in NWA were arrested last month due to settings off explosives in a neighborhood. I'm assuming tannerite as it is easier to get than anything else. Can be used pretty stupidly

Its not as powerful as ANFO,but saying that ,ANFO needs a blasting cap and booster to set it off,its possible if tannerite was setoff with a blasting cap,it might detonate with more power.

Tannerite is quite similar to anfo, a commercial blasting compound.

Tannerite is not considered an explosive. Its detonation rate is technically below that of "explosives" or they wouldn't be able to sell it in the stores. It is prilled ammonium nitrate mixed with powdered aluminum at the time of use. ANFO is ammonium nitrate mixed with fuel oil (hence - ANFO) or similar chemicals and does require a hefty shock to set it off.

fun with explosives can be defined simply as stupid at a minimum safe distance.

Like anything, used in the right time and place, it is great fun, but the low frequency boom and shock wave can travel a long way and pisses off the people that weren't invited. 10 miles from anywhere works well. Populated areas, public ranges etc is bound to cause problems. No more annoying than cannon shoots or anvil launching.
