I'm looking at a double rifle in a strange caliber

I was looking at a double rifle in 10,75x52 Mannlicher aka Springer. Has anyone heard of this round?
It is not listed in Cartridges of the world and only a few references on line. Can it be rechambered? they say it is
based on the 8x56 Mannlicher.

Do a quick google search, lots of references I saw including detailed case and bullet dimensions. Also references on making cases from Russian military cases. Way beyond my capabilities, but someone could probably make the cases. Likely a bullet mold could be custom ordered.

To quote Ross Seyfried, "alter the ammo, not the rifle." If you don't have the skills and equipment to form/turn/make the ammo, find someone who does or leave it alone.

There's also the very real PROBABILITY that if you re-chamber a double rifle to another cartridge it won't regulate. Then you're going to have a real dilemma on your hands. I bought a Vierordt double, a fine rifle, that had been re-chambered to a different 8mm. I finally found the load combination and got it regulated but it took a while....and a lot of expended ammo and study. Leave well enough alone, especially if you don't know what you're doing with a double.

Edit: Donnely's shows a 10.75 X 57 Mannlicher as a rimless case. Was the 52 a typo? If so, the cases can be made from 9.3 X 57...good luck finding those, I had to make my 9.3's from '06. Or, he says 308 can be used...which seems would be a bit short UNLESS it is 52mm. His drawing shows the case the same length as all the other 57mm cases.....for what that's worth.

If you can source the dies it seems to be an easy enough case to form, regardless of length. A proper bullet mold should be available from Tom at Accurate. You'll have to measure the twist and calculate correct bullet length, compare length to get the weight you need then order the mold. Donnely shows a load of a 350 gr. RN over 44.9 grs. of BL-C2 and sources COTW. IF it is the 57mm case velocity is just short of 2000 fps., which would be correct for the era.

Evidently, as with others, I found there isn't much out there on the 10.75 X 52R Springer. Which, from what I found is a rimmed case...and makes more sense than the X 57mm rimless. Of course there's always the possibility/probability there was a 10.75 X 57R case as well. Only way you'll know for certain is to make a chamber cast. Given the era, I wouldn't try ANYTHING without making a chamber cast the absolute first thing I'd do. Johann Springer was an Austrian gunmaker, there is the possibility the rifle is a war trophy and might have been altered already. I've bought at least 3 rifles that were not the cartridge they were advertised as, all Germanic....but I like doing that kind of thing.

I find it a fascinating project !
Taking an old rifle that has not been fired for a lifetime out to the target frame then maybe the hunting fields is a joy that makes the heart smile.

I’d certainly like to see the Springer!
I have one Springer double which was originally chambered in 10.75 X something - that’s all Springer could tell me.
It is now an 8X57R - rebarreled by Carl Bock - and it’s an exceptionally fine rifle!
