    6mm br and 2400

I finally rounded up enough primers to do some load development for a T/C encore in 6mm br with a 14inch barrel. Carpetman's load of 10.5gr of 2400 behind the RCBS 24-95 boolit worked really well in my .243. Does anyone see a problem using the same load in the 6mm br? Looking at 357 mag data, alliant shows 19.5gr of 2400 for a 110 gr bullet. The 6 br has about half again the case capacity.

Color me cautious, but the 6mmBR was roughly 2/3 the case capacity of the .243 Winchester, at a guess.

I'd do a lot more digging before I tried that load in that case. It may work fine and be safe, but why chance it?

I have a T/C Encore with a 10" 7br barrel and a 15"6br barrel. I finally got around to trying Alliant 2400 in the cases. Details are on the targets. Range was 50 yards off of a bench.Click image for larger version.

Looks about right. I shot my first cast bullets through my 6BR a couple weeks ago. I tried IMR4198 and Varget just to get a starting point. These were two of the groups (200yd). This is the NOE 106gn bullet, GC and PC. The scope was adjusted after the first round.

I was a bit worried the twist might be a bit fast for these (1:8) but they seemed to do OK. I will explore a bit more with the 4198 at a lower vel, around 1800fps maybe.

Got a .22 .30 .32 .357 .38 .40 .41 .44 .45 .480 or .500 S&W cylinder that needs throats honed? 9mm, 10mm/40S&W, 45 ACP pistol barrel that won't "plunk" your handloads? 480 Ruger or 475 Linebaugh cylinder that needs the "step" reamed to 6° 30min chamfer? Hi Mark! I'd be a little careful there. Back in the day, a lot of people used a 7br load of 18 grains of 4227 with a 140 grain jacketed bullet. It was low recoil and incredibly accurate, but for me anyway, it produced pierced or leaky primers more often than I liked. That was with CCI small rifle primers. Maybe Remington 7 1/2 would have done better, but I eventually went to slower powders. I'd think a 6br would be even touchier.
