I save the anal glands on the coyotes and red fox I catch and when I get enough of one I would grind them up. Let them break down and makes some good gland lure, As for baits make some tainted baits out of beaver meat and also collect some mice and break them down and put some sodium benzoate in it to stop the proses to where I want it and use that . I make all my baits and do buy some gland lures to give the animals a different smell. Also use coyote urine at the set. It works for me. Some sets I use just gland lure and urine , other ones I make it with bait also. It is to not give the animals the same . Some a shy from other sets they came across . Also use snares. I also use some ground up beaver castor with Glycerin in it, also ground up beaver oil sacs after I drain the oil out to use also on the line . What you do for the target animal will help to catch others , works for me .

Take a few trout, heads, guts, and all, and make a "trout-shake" in the blender with them. Put the tasty shake in a convenient squeeze bottle, and ferment in the sun for about a week. (vented lid)

The fish oil will separate to the top, but I use the entire mix, shaking up as I go. Works good in your dirt-hole sets which is about all I use. jd
It seems that people who do almost nothing, often complain loudly when it's time to do it.

When I first started trapping, I bought all the baits and lures I used. After buying traps year after year, the baits and lures were the next highest expense for my little hobby. Reading stories in Fur Fish & Game and other magazines as to how easy it was to make my own, I decided to give it a try. Never made any to sell but I sure got a lot of stink eye from the neighbors. All that I did make, I was able to catch enough fur to make it worth my while. The name of this game is don't be afraid to experiment. ( Have pushed the like button for posts #4 and 5. )
