Looking for a cross draw flap holster

Does anyone know of someone besides El Paso that makes a cross draw flap holster for a 6.5" blackhawk? I like theirs and all but the price is a bit high for something that I want to fully protect the gun from limbs and briars and such while busting through brush. The triple k flap holster for rugers is about what I'm looking for but I want it in a cross draw orientation, not a butt forward calvary orientation.

Simply Rugged makes one, but it is pricey as well.

DiamondD makes a great holster, but like the others it’s pricey. It would run around $235 with the flap.

The pricey ones are very nice and if money were no object I'd already have one but I have to balance quality and price as best I can. Whyte Leather may work. I sent them an email to see what they say. Thanks.

I've been keeping an eye there but they're all either strong side or butt forward. I think Whyte is gonna be able to get me what I'm looking for at an acceptable price.

Have you considered buying a cheap civil war repo holster for a full size cap and ball revolver, and shortening it? If it works well, you can buy a more expensive, better made one, and then do the same.

I am not positive if it would fit well, though. If too tight, there are dragoon replica holsters as well.

Or head over to the Help Wanted section of the leatherworker forum. Some members are amazing holster makers.

Call and tell him what you want if Whyte Leather does not get the job. Both are good guys.

Try one of these. Cut down as necessary. If not angled properly for cross draw unstitch the belt loop and restitch to give desired angle.

The El Paso CD flap holster is not that expensive when you factor in their fantastic quality....You don't always get what you pay for...but you ALWAYS don't get what you DON"T pay for.....

I actually started out with one of these first but it was way too tight for the blackhawk. I know triple k makes one specifically for the blackhawk but there were also other things I didn't like about it. I finally go one from Whyte and so far it seems to fit the bill.
