Anybody using TiteWAD in light 38 Special?

I shoot a lot of light 38’s, mainly using 3 - 3.2 grains Bullseye or HP- 38 behind 125 TC lead bullets. But I recently picked up a 4 lb jug of Titewad for 12 gauge. It’s a faster powder than either of them, but am wondering if anyone is using Titewad for light 38’s for plinking.

Notice that I am asking about Titewad, not Tightgroup.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

    Yes.
When that was all I could find, a few years ago, I used it in several cartridges.
My load usage was about 15 percent less than Titegroup.
When Titegroup called for 3.0, I would use 2.5-2.6 of Titewad.

There are a number of cartridges that have data for both Titegroup and Titewad listed on The Hodgdon data site. It is easy to do comparisons.
As always, start low and work up. Results in your gun might be a little different.

    Greetings,

I have used it with 148 grain HBWC.

    Cheers,

I can't find my notes, but back in Obummer's second drought, I bought a pound of TiteWAD and found it used about 10% less than a comparable Bullseye or Titegroup load to achieve comparable velocities. I settled in 2.4 grains with a H&G #50 140-ish WC and shot up the pound.
Accuracy was certainly acceptable, although not quite up to that of Bullseye or WW-231 in my M-14, but amply good for anything but the most demanding of use. I did not try it with lighter boolits, but I would think that 2.6-2.8 grains would do well with your 125 RNFP boolits.

Thanks, guys. Your responses jive with what I was thinking. It seems to be a very fast powder, so it makes sense to use a bit less than Bullseye.

I couldn’t get the Hodgdon website to give me any recipes for Titewad. I’ll try again.

Hodgdon lists 3 pistol calibers with Titewad (I, too, recently acquired some), 2 loads for 9mm, 7 for 45ACP, and 3 for 38 Super.

i purchased a pound of TITEWAD by mistake, wanted TIGHT GROUP, so shot it up in .38 and it was great. If I remember correctly 2.4 grains with 98 grain wad cutter. Was accurate and fun load. A pound lasts a long time.
