Rare Dan Wesson satin chrome/nickel Model 15 with multiple barrels and tools

    Sale pending for all

    Hello All,

Still gathering funds and clearing items out to pay expenses for medical and funeral costs. I had a recent job change as well with a downgrade in insurance, and my wife needs some dental surgery, so the hits keep coming for this last year and current year.

Thank the Good Lord that he took us in his hands as he always does! He always makes a way.

I can’t say enough kind things about the wonderful members on this forum, all have been so generous with prayers and other kindnesses.

    The good:
This is an older model 15 in .357 magnum with 4 line stamp on the side, a low 21,xxx serial number, and in a rare factory hard satin chrome or nickel finish. This includes a blued 2.5”, a blued 4”, and a hard satin Chromed 6 inch barrel with tools to install each.

The 6 inch shroud has been nicely drilled and tapped for a weaver rail mount that is included. The 2.5 and 4 inch barrels are all factory original model 14 or 15 barrels and all I can say is that the 2.5 inch barrel looks mean!

    The not-as-good:
There are some marks in the bottom of the nickel barrel shroud, and a mark on the frame under the cylinder on the left side ahead of the cylinder stop.

The sight blade for the 4 inch barrel may be too short, I haven’t personally tried it yet.
It is pinned and a tall blade can likely be found used and installed. I haven’t had time to get to that.

The 2.5 barrel shroud has some very light hazy scratches on the polished bluing, but it still looks very good overall.

I have many pics I can email to those interested. I am not able to load any currently on here, hopefully tonight.

Splitting this up, as no one is taking the whole package deal yet:

Sorry, been trying again to post pics of this one, I believe they are too large. I will work on it more tonight and get them listed somehow.

I can also send pics to emails of those interested if you send a PM.

    Thanks!

Do you have the case it came with? Also I think a few were made in other calibers is this one still a 357 mag?
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left.

I apologize, it is a .357 magnum, and unfortunately I don’t have a case with it.

By the way, SSGOLDFART, I used to live in East Texas! Now I am in Colorado. I miss the people and the great food there!

anybody on the fence about this, its the porkchop model which makes it even more desirable.

The frame/receiver is marked Model 15, but all three barrel assemblies are older model 12 or 13 assemblies.
They are the so call "Porkchop" barrel shrouds.
Model 14 and 15 barrel shrouds did not have the porkchop extension below the shroud.
Also the castle nut used to retain the shroud on the model 12 and 13 barrels were external, while the nuts in the 14 and 15 shrouds were internal.
I collect Dan Wesson Revolvers, and I'm positive about the above.

Well Sir, not to sound oppositional, but I can assure you that this model 15 is flat with the pin sticking out at the front under the pork chop shroud, and it has the front of the crane pivot exposed and protruding where it fits into the back of the pork chop shroud.

Without a pork chop barrel, the cylinder/crane would not be retained.

SSGOLDFART mentioned that he has two model 15’s that have the regular shroud, and one with the pork chop barrel design.

When it comes to Dan Wesson revolvers, I have heard many collectors and experts with the phrase “never say never”. I have only read of one other model 15 that was an early pork chop design and was hard satin chromed with black oxide hammer, trigger, ejector star, and a blued barrel and barrel nut, just as this one is….

PM inbound for seconds in case sale falls through. Have a few pistol pacs that need holes filled and always a sucker for switch barrel Dan Wessons.
