    .32 S & W Short

I picked up a nice little S & W pocket pistol in .32 S & W short for CAS side matches. Gun is pre- 1898 so I want to keep loads to black powder. I have bullets, primers and powder. Having trouble finding brass. I have brass back ordered through Starline, but other wise have been unable to secure brass. Wondering if there is another round that I can cut down and form brass from. Anyone out there tackle this?

Not to be picky, but there is no such thing as a 32 S&W Short. It is a 32 S&W and the longer version is a 32 S&W Long. Just saying.

Try cutting down 32 S&W Longs, may work. If you can even find them. You can even try 32 ACP if the extractor will pull them out of the chambers and the head space is not too far off. I would not shoot factory 32 ACP loads in a gun that old, just the mildest of hand loads.

Just trying to be more descriptive, as the questions would be forthcoming. My gunsmith said to stay away from.32 auto brass. Haven't seen longs out there either. There is .32 factory ammo out there, but I don't want to put smokeless power in t he old gal.

    Hello hp246,

In my attempt to form .32 Colt I experimented with the .223 Remington.
I did manage to make one from .223. a person could have stopped at .337 base,
But it was a lot of messing around and probably not worth the effort.
The rims were very thin also. Just saying because I did it once with one case.
I switched to the .32 S&W case for my .32 Colt after that.

You might try a WTB ad on here. I bet someone has some cases in a drawer they would part with.

You can also cut down 32 H&R, or 327 Federal brass, if you happen to stumble across some for cheap.

    hp246, are you near Amarillo?

Thanks for the idea. I have a post on another forum and have had no response. Added it in Swap and Sell here.
