So, I have a Remingto XP-100 centergrip with a custom 15" bull barrel chambered in .350 Rem Mag on it's way to me for hunting deer here in Iowa. It's a round that's intrigued me since I was a teenager, but never really had a good excuse to NEED one. Now with Iowa's change to permitting bottleneck cartridges sending projectiles from .350"-.500" in diameter, now I have a good excuse.
I've got lots of experience with the .357 Max and a Ranch Dog 359-190 RFGC mold that throws great bullets and has been great on deer. (also 148 WC and 158 gr. Keith PB molds) My daughter has claimed that T/C Encore and we're tired of sharing a pistol. So I've wanted to get back into the XP-100 again after having loved one in 7BR 25 years ago. But I don't find much data on it, especially for cast boolits. My Lyman Cast Bullet handbook is very scarce on data and I don't find cast data anywhere else. The cartridge isn't more than I can handle in a handgun, but it's more than I NEED, so I want to load it down a bit. My other bullet option is the Speer 180 gr. Hot Cor, of which I have several hundred. I've run my Ranch Dog bullet at just under 2000 fps with great success in the Max and I wouldn't mind duplicating that performance with the .350 Rem Mag. I've got a good powder selection - Blue Dot, 5774, 4227, 2400, Varget, IMR 4350, H380, RL15, 7828, RL7, N133, AA1680, H110 (likely not applicable here), Unique, Red Dot, Green Dot, 700X.
Who has experience with this round that can advise a bit on the cast boolit side? I've got enough data for jacketed.
Thanks!
Selmer
