LBT mold .458-70 500gr oversized mold Trapdoor rifle.

I bought a used LBT mold .458-70 500gr oversized for my Trapdoor rifle. Wondering if I use 16-1 or 20-1 lead tin that the bullet will drop at .460 or greater. I have not used the mold, still getting supplies to cast. I cannot find anything about this mold online. I also bought a NEI .460-466 mold as sell still have not used it. Hopefully these two molds will drop awesome bullets for my Trapdoor rifles. Any info or guidance will help. Thank you. 1st time casting.

What makes you think the LBT is oversized? Veral Smith of LBT usually made them to throw the diameter the mold says up to maybe .001" larger. Your proposed lead/tin alloys would drop slightly smaller than alloys with a bit more antimony, but the soft lead/tin alloys bump up more easily generally.

The NEI mold is designated at .460 diameter and 466 is probably the cherry number of the design. Back in the Walter Melander days NEIs dropped a little larger than the stated diameter. (Walter died and the business continued with less renown.)

I've only a couple of LBT moulds a 41-260-LFN and the 458-400 Marlin 45-70 mould. When ordering from LBT you use to be asked what alloy you were using and the diameter you wanted. I'm guessing your going to have to cast with your alloy and measure.

I bought the mold used and it came with a written description that it is oversized, whatever that means. I will have to cast to see the dimensions of the bullet, I am aiming for .459 but .460 would be perfect. Thank you for the responses.
