GONRA hopes ya'll can save some primed cases or loaded rounds
(more the better!) for INTERESTNG shelf life studies!!!

Shoot some more in 5 years, 10 years, etc.....

We're all spoiled by the modern lead styphnate / tetrazene primers.
    RWS Sinoxid patent(s).
Stored reasonably well, they'll last longer than most of us will live....

    >>> Lead Free primers are NOT for SHTF storage.... <<<
Very informative! When did modern lead styphnate / tetrazene primers get to be mainstream? Is that pretty much ubiquitous now?

    GOOD INFO right there^
That got me out looking for old Tula primer sleeves, as I know I still have ammo I loaded with them.
I cut primer sleeves into pieces to use for ID tags in batches of brass/sized bullets, etc.
I found those Tula sleeves, with nothing about being lead-free, just says: "Standard Non-Corrosive", NCSP (non-corrosive-small-pistol).
So, I think I dodged that "shelf-life" bullet.
    Thanks again for the info,
Size/Prime a few cases when starting off with a progressive and put them aside. You can plug them back into the process when a bad/odd case screws up in the priming station and continue loading.

Well folks, the mystery is over. Found the problem. In dealing with the Lee Auto Indexing Clamp that is prone to splitting I put a zip tie around the clamp. Looking back, that's when the issue started. I finally realized that was preventing the shell holder from coming completely to the bottom. I cut the zip tie off. Now it really seats the primer deep. Fired 250 rounds since. Perfect function. The problem was never defective primers after all. Just me improvising my press. Most of you knew it had to be something like that. I'm just glad to be back in business! Thanks for helping me really think through this one!

Last statement not true. Tula primers are made with the anvil pre-seated, unlike American primers. And when you are measuring American primers make sure you are measuring the actual cup size and not the cup+anvil that extends over the edge of the cup. American primers seat the anvil as the primer is seated. Not so Russian.
