Sportsmans Warehouse had boxes of 500 230gr round nose hard ball on special $15.00 a box that comes out to .03 cents per bullet. I haven't seen that kind of price in a very long time. Hope some of you guys were able to get some also. They make for great plinking ammo. I love cast boolits, but time wise these are great.
500 bullets for $15 would be crazy cheap. You'd be better off buying those than paying $1 per pound for lead.
You are right, the thing is I have never had to pay for lead. For 29 years working for Chevron as a gas truck delivery driver I got all my lead in the from of tire weights free. At present I still have about 800 poundes left. I probably won't even use most of that being 80 years old, but who knows. It won't go to waste because my son will use it.Originally Posted by reddog81

What was the brand on those?
Ours has started carrying some brand of coated bullets that are relatively expensive. Everyone else must think so too since there are many boxes that have been sitting there for a couple of months.
I suspect somebody just made a mistake when they plugged the price into the system. Maybe they were supposed to be $115 per 500. That would be 23 cents apiece.
