What dies do you use for 7.62x54r ?

In leu of having a complete set of original lyman 310 dies for the 7.62x54r, what other combination of other lyman 310 dies will work to reload for this caliber? Is there some combination of 30-06 and 303 dies that will work?
    Thanks,
    taylorh

The hard part is going to be figuring out which priming chamber will work. That fat base on the 54R will require a #17 PC like the one from a 45-70.

Ironically the #17 pc is the only component that i randomly found specifically for the 54r. I was just hoping someone else had success using other caliber specific dies to successfully load it and would share that info so I could stop shopping for a die set

Same setup that I’ve answered in your 7.62x39 thread - RCBS 2 die set and 31 long Lyman neck expander.

My friend and neighbor bought a basic die set from Lee and used them in my press, when he was just beginning to reload. They worked fine. If they are available, they would be good to consider and aren’t that expensive.

The challenge is going to be the big fat bottom the Russian case uses. Since 7.62 is the same as 30 cal. I’d be tempted to take a set of the ubiquitous 30-06 dies and open up their case body area to accommodate the Russian case body.

    My 310 data sheet shows a #16 priming chamber for 7.62 x 54 Russian
