    Help identifying press

No markings on the press anywhere, anyone know what it is?

It looks like one of those x-treem benchrest presses; maybe a Harrell?

Specially-made for short, PPC-type cartridges. Can’t find my reference.

It looks very similar to the RCBS summit press early model just a guess.

I've had the same press for over 25 years (mine is missing the priming post), so it's not exactly new. I feel as if there was a post on this forum a few years ago identifying it, but not sure how to effectively search for the post. Despite the color, I don't believe it's an RCBS.

A missing priming post wouldn’t be much of a drawback for me. I almost always prime off press with some sort of hand tool. That press looks pretty stout. I’m guessing it would be a good one for swaging bullets and serious case forming.

It's kind of an odd press, but it seems to have tremendous leverage at the very end of the press stroke--I used to use it for swaging case heads. Mine does not have a soft grip on the handle--can't tell if it ever did--so not very comfortable to use. I also found the arms get in the way--the horseshoe handle swings down across the opening for the case, so it's hard to use your fingers to guide something into a die. Also the screws holding it together seem to back out frequently--could locktite them, I guess, but I just keep an Allen wrench handy.

That seems kinda extreme, maybe just follow the rules and heed and warnings from mods?
Hated to see some of the guys go, but they were warned.

I may have half of an answer.

All I can remember is “Tec” in the name. They also made powder measures.

    Pressman knows all about them.

I know this is an old thread, but I think this is the answer: Tecto Press made in Minneapolis.

Thanks, that brings back memories. Used to hang out at the store a lot but I don't remember that press.

Thank you very much for sharing that information. I've never seen anything like it, cool.
