I need a trigger spring for a SPANISH, CVA, KENTUCKY percussion pistol lock. any one have one? I hope some one has one sitting in there spare parts? thanks', toot.

I take it you are looking for the Sear Spring that goes on the rear part of the lock.
The Trigger itself does not have a spring.
I will look thru my Stuff.
But I think I had to make my last one.
I made it out of metal from one of those Black Spring Paper Clamps.

No help here, but the clamp as a source of spring material is noted and appreciated.

I save the various widths of banding from shipments also it is a very good source of material for springs

For THIS spring.
The paper clamp / Binder worked great because,
The ring for the mounting screw was already formed.
It just had to be expanded a little with a punch.
So all you had to do was to cut it to the width you needed , file in the locating tab on one side and make one bend while you heated the material.
Then it was tempered by heating it to a light red color and quenching it in motor oil.
Then to get the spring temper back , you set the tempered spring on top of melted lead for about an hour .
Then let it cool sitting on top of the lead.
Be careful.
Do not heat the spring material to Bright Cherry Red.
Warm it up just enough to get it to bend where you need to.
I heat the spring material on a piece of 1/8" or 1/4" steel plate.
The torch heats up the Steel plate till it is red hot with the spring on top till it starts to turn red on the edges.
Making springs is one of the hardest things in Gunsmithing to get the knack down.
But it can be done with practice.
This little spring would ba a good starting point.
It may take you two or three tries, but your material is cheap and available.
BTW.
There is one other option.
If you have the Old Spring and it is not broken but just Week.
You can always try reforming it and Re Tempering the original spring

I will keep the metal banding on mind if a spring is needed for a gun that can't be had. thank's guys for all of the input.

The hastle of finding parts like this for older guns and the outrageous cost of shipping is why I make a lot of my own parts.
Lots of parts are simple to make at home.
Question, why did you need a new spring ?

LAGS, I was shooting the 45 CAL. KENTUCKY percussion pistol. a CVA, made in SPAIN, gun when it would not stay on full cock and on half cock some times. I took out the lock and the piece that puts tension on the sear fell out. broke off. the only part left was the part that the screw goes into. so that is the reason I needed a new spring. I sent to OLD ARMS OF IDAHO, and they had one for $8.00 & $10.00 shipping, total $18.00.so that is why I thanked SASQUATCH-1, for turning me onto the site!. toot.

You're welcome and I know what you mean about the shipping. I have lost the bolt alignment pin in my Desert Eagle. The part is about the size of a .22lr and cost about 7 or 8 dollars. After shipping it is about $25.00. But like you said, "What are you going to do."

the suppliers have to pay there little minion to go to the stock room and retrieve it from that little pigeon hole & put it in an envelope and ship it too us, so, figure?

I got on eBay under Muzzleloaders and saw three Sear Springs listed .
Two of them look like they would fit the Traditions locks.
One on page 38 looked more like the Spanish sear spring.
It also has pictures next to a ruler so you can look at the size.
The Traditions spring has a flat locating tab that fits into a slot in the lock plate
The Spanish ones on my lock have a locating tab on the side of the spring that fits into a round hole in the lock plate.

That is the thing about a lot of these old locks.
They tried to be standard.
But they made changes often , not only per model , but who they had making their parts for them at the time.

Here’s a video on how to make your own spring. It doesn’t look that hard. You heat and quench to harden it and then temper it in a pot of melted lead.
