350gr 45/70 NOE boolit straight line penetration

Whitetail deer quartering away, set my sights right where that heart was. Boolit sailed right through the ribcage and the heart at 1570 fps. Poured a ton of blood, deer was down in seconds after a 30yd sprint. Love having venison in the freezer.

    Good evening and Congratulations !
Certainly was enough of a slug at enough FPS to put that venison in the old box. Well done and great shot placement.

That bullet will penetrate. I shot a 160 pound 7 point buck a few years ago with that same NOE bullet with a 45-70. The load was moderate, not a top powder charge for the Handi rifle. The deer presented the shot at about 140 yards and I was certain he was about to exit my shooting lane because he was trailing a doe that had just left that spot moments before. When he paused he was facing squarely towards me. The bullet dead centered the chest and exited through his left ham. He sat down on his rump, then tilted over backwards. No tracking required. DRT. And none of the meat was damaged, even that left ham. The bullet cut a clean path with no bloodshot meat. Penetrated the full length of the deer.
