Hi all, looking to try a steel sizing die in my 45 Colt. I currently have a carbide one and it seems to squeeze the case excessively. I don't mind adding the lube step, don't shoot that many.
Thanks, Dale

Redding recognized the problem of a lot of case diameter reduction being done in standard .45 Colt dies. They make a 2 carbide ring sizer that tightens the "neck" of the case to hold .451 or .452 bullets snugly, while leaving the bottom 2/3 of case at "just able to fit" most chambers cut for .45 colt. I doubt the steel sizer will give you any better results than the standard carbide sizer does.
good luck, garrisonjoe

The older steel sizers do work leaving an obvious step between neck and body, I don’t know how old it needs to be mine is the green box with yellow label RCBS.
Thanks for the responses, I found a steel die.
