    16 Lb. of pewter today

12 Plates and a bowl. Not a smoking deal at$75 but much better than buying tin.

If you can sell it for more than your cost, it’s not a bad deal, especially if it’s all positively identified (stamped) pewter. I’d be pretty happy getting enough tin to do up ~800# of alloy at under 5$ a pound.

Yes, it is the best score price wise I've made so far. They wanted $88 for the plates and we settled on $60.

I once collected pewter items and then people started giving pieces to me as presents. Now it’s all sitting on a shelf in the barn covered with dust. I’m getting tempted to melt some down into ingots. It sure is expensive when you buy it in ingot form.

Yeah. In the old days, I'd grab a $6-7 one pound roll of 95/5 if I needed some Tin.
That same roll is over $30. now.

Well under $5 a pound for a commodity that sells new for over $25 a pound isn’t too shabby. Congratulations on your find.

We are lucky so much of the pewter is butt ugly. I must have 50 lbs. now, more than enough to outlast my primers. I could use a couple hundred pounds of pure to cut all the ww alloy I have.

As a confirmed pewter hunter, I once found 10 or 12 pewter plates. I sold them on eBay to CA for more than I could have gotten for them as ingots. One of the few items that worked out for.

The plates have a very faint hall mark that says pewter. I bent/rolled one into a tube and dipped it in my pot, melted away right now.

Well, I need to find a mess of pure to make my investment pay.
