    9 pt with .458 SOCOM

Last Saturday was opening day of the Wisconsin gun deer season and I was able to take a nice 9 point buck with my .458 SOCOM. Had it loaded with RCBS 45-300-FN (Lyman #2) at 1,683 FPS. Shot was broadside at 20 yards. Bullet went though both lungs and took off the top of the heart. The deer stumbled a few steps and tipped over. That was a good day.

If you can find it, the .458 SoCOm will take it down for you.

    Good evening and Congratulations !
    Nice looking buck !
I recon you had enough gun.
We were shooting a 450 Bushmaster and I would not mind popping corn crunchers with it.

That'll do it....of course, with that shot placement just about any decent round would work. Stellar!!

That's how you show the versatility of the AR15 platform. Good job, sir! Can the .458 Socom be formed from any other brass?

Sorry, I just now noticed this. As far as I know, you cannot form it from any other brass. The rebated rim makes that problematic.
