    Free & Easy Cookie Cutter

Paper patching increases the size of a boolit by a few thousandths. So take a receipt from your last grocery store purchase, tightly roll it around a boolit until it is ~0.004” larger than as-cast diameter, turn & twist the tail, roll it in bullet lube (Vaseline or chapstick would work too), press it into a case, use a bullet puller to get the boolit out. Now the case is larger than an as-cast boolit, and makes for a nice cookie cutter.

Thank you, I needed that. I was looking for something to open a 327 FM case to make one.

You may want to consider drilling out the flash hole and inserting a nail (head inside the case) to make it easier to eject the bullet.

Thanks Sasquatch for the heads up. I have done that on the other 3 I made and I put a dowel stub on the nail too. Saves your hand.

That worked perfectly. I used a 357 case since I have a bunch of them and ran it thru the 327 sizer die then expanded and seated the wrapped boolit when pulled the cutter slipped over a sized boolit just perfect. Drilled the primer, inserted the nail and handle. It's ready for Friday's pan lubing session.

Using the larger .357 case for the .327 means you won’t get a jam when the boolits get pushed beyond what you sized with the paper patch… unless you did a full length sizing. I bumped up the size of my papered sizing slug a few thou, and pushed it in as far as it could go to remove the jam.

I did not full length size the 357 shell, instead leaving about a 1/4" and then fitted a fender washer on the larger section to make it easier to eject the bullet and push the cutter over the boolit. I also seated the sizer bullet deep into the case so I had room for any length bullet. It worked like a dream.

Looks like I need to invest in a fender washer. I’ve been abusing my fingers.
