    What is hard ??

Ok,I have several reloading books. I ones I use the must are one caliber books. You know the ones.. Anyway I just noticed this morning while leafing thru the one about 44 special that some of the lead bullets are classified as being hard. Just what do you think they are referring to..I think they should include the bhn number..thanks Johnny

My understanding is that the definition has changed over the past 60+ years, and that a “hard” alloy back then would be considered soft now.

The coating technologies now available make the use of softer alloy possible in many applications. And appropriate fit to the bore is touted here as eliminating much of the leading concerns.

Agree. Back in the day 16-1 alloy was considered "hard". Today we are probably talking at least Lyman #2 & up.
