When You’re Hot, You’re Hot! #3 For The Season

Managed to notch another tag this afternoon with my Blackhawk in 357 magnum! I sent one of Elmers finest (358429 from an Arsenal mold) his way from about 45 yards, after a quick 80 yard jaunt he stood broadside in a drive row between apple trees. I closed the distance about 40 yards and cut another loose. This one landed on his neck and sent him to the promised land! The first shot hit him in front of his left shoulder (he was quartering towards me) a little lower than I would’ve liked but it would’ve been a fatal shot but the second shot ended him right there. He’s not a giant but a 5 point is good enough for me, especially since it’s my first buck with a revolver!

The load is a stiff charge of Blue Dot and the bullet is cast of air cooled clip on wheel weights and it’s hustling along at about 1400 fps.

    Good morning and Congratulations !
A revolver will get the job done ! Funny thing about racks is no one eats them. But those young bucks sure are good eating.
When I saw the photo I thought "that looks like an apple orchard". I grew up in SW Michigan among the orchards there.
My first revolver corn cruncher was with a 375 Supermag Dan Wesson at 1150 FPS. Young fork buck walking the edge of a cut corn field.

Congratulations! Way to put that wheel gun to good use. Elmer would be pleased.

For awhile there all I could find was Blue Dot! I’m down to my last pound now, hopefully it’ll become available again soon!

Nice hunting. Any deer is good. Rack size means little to me but the hunt is what is important to me. I have only killed two deer with a 357 but have more than I can count with a 44 mag using one of Elmer's style bullets. Placement is what puts them down not calaber.
