I bought a Loewe Chilean Mauser about 20 years ago, it was a little beat looking and dirty but the bore still had some shine to it. It is pulled out and shot ocasionally, it does shoot very well.

Today while working up a fresh batch of ammo I decided to take a look at the bore with my Teslong bore scope. I know a shiny bore can sometimes be deceiving but I got a big surprise, this thing has a beautiful bore. No pits except a few freckles close to the muzzle and nice clean rifling.

I know that type of work can and is still being done but I don't think I can ever afford it. I really feel lucky that I was able to buy a few nice old mil-surps at reasonable prices years ago.

While at it I looked down the bore of M39 Finnish, VKT 1944, pretty much the same.
