Zastava M 70 bolt action trigger adjustment question

I purchased this rifle two years ago and am trying to improve the trigger pull. The rifle is chambered in 7.92 x 57 and seems to want to shoot the RCBS 32-180 FN but I'm having trouble with the stiff trigger. I partially disassembled the trigger mechanism and reduced the sear engagement to what looks to be near minimum and set the trigger overtravel ( correct term?) while I was there. The third adjustment screw/nut directly forward of the trigger/sear has me baffled as to it's purpose. Perhaps someone here is familiar with this trigger and could explain how to reduce the pull weight? I believe I saw that the action is the same as the earlier Santa Barbara action, but I'm not sure the triggers are the same design....
