I cannot find real black powder anywhere local. That could be why things are quiet. I had a Henry 4570 SS out today for the first time and I would have tried it with black if I could have found any.

Without real BP the small company's that build flintlock firearms are going to have to switch to percussion cap type lock works.
I think RogerDat has some very good points. Plus it's getting harder an harder to get BP. I know I'm shooting less due to shortages. I'm also now 71, so my travel time to attend shoots is pretty much over. Friends I've had around my age have also just about finished up their travels too. Unfortunately I fear that the next big BP usage here in the USA may not be done at the range or competition events.

Even with smokeless powder shortages, there does not seem much demand for BP. Not many folks want the hassle of using it. It is a niche market and not likely to grow. This forum should have seen an uptick...but it did not happen. Looks like Hodgdon made a smart decision.
