RCBS vs Lyman lube sizing dies

Any difference in quality - specs. - of either a lyman or rcbs lube sizer die? Is one better than the other?
Are both pretty precise in their sizing of say a .459 boolit?

Lyman changed the Lube Entry holes so that they are now evenly spaced around the body of the die, just like the RCBS.
I've plenty of both, never noticed a difference in eithers sizing ability.
There is more "bounce back" depending on the hardness of alloy used.

The only real difference I've seen is my RCBS dies have fewer lube ports/holes.

Then importance of number and location of holes depends on bullet used. While I haven't compared directly between manufacturers, there is a range of tolerance within examples of the Lyman dies. Once I've got the right size from either manufacturer and have it in my Lyman 450, I can't see any difference between how they seem to work.

I have both, and can't tell any difference.

If anything, the ones with holes at 4 points of the body seem to take a little less pressure on the handle to fill.
But it's not enough to really prefer one over the other.

At some point in the past there were comments that the tapered portion of the Lyman lube sizer was formed just a little differently and gave problems being installed in the RCBS lube sizer. I have not seen that complaint lately, so perhaps it was just a temporary QC issue. There may be a thread or more in the archives.

All that I have bought new in the last fifteen years have been spot on as to size. Maybe I got lucky, several times??

Since I haven't had a bad experience with either brand, I buy the least expensive one when I do buy new.

Lyman lube sizer was formed just a little differently and gave problems being installed in the RCBS lube sizer.

I've got a pretty good mix of both brands of dies from the mid-80s till a year or two ago, and a RCBS sizer.
If there ever was any problem, I'm not smart enough to realize it.

Some one here makes a Superior Die nut wrench for the Lyman 450. Can't remember his name, but the wrench is FANTASTIC.

Make my own. Finished a suhweet,.2665 yesterday. Have 3 Lyman 450's. The leade in is critical,as y'all know. The "fit" between the inner rod and sizer needs due attention. The closer, the better.... but watch the finish on the "I".... it needs to have the right amt of "valleys" to hold lubrication. This way you can run a tighter tolerance without it getting stuck. Hope you understand that,tough for me to describe things...... more at home in front of our machines.

I ave both. No discernible difference. Get whatever is cheaper.

RCBS has 4 holes spread evenly around the sizer and a groove to help distribute the lube between the holes.

I had one of each in .431" The. Lyman had the wax port holes higher up on the die than the RCBS. It would leave wax in the crimp groove no matter how I adjusted the boolit stop.

The Lyman's have 8 holes around the die, 90° apart.

For me the biggest difference is Lyman stamps the size in the top, RCBS on the side.

With geezer memory and eyesight, I can't tell if it's a die for 6.5 or 7mm with out reading what's on the die. The likelihood of me remembering what I sized last is pretty slim, even if it was just yesterday.

Keep adjusting. It's not possible to inject lube into a crimp groove unless the bullet is pushed below the upper lube hole.

I see no effective difference between RCBS and Lyman lubrasizer dies.

Lyman dies have the radius groove required for the Lyman 45 lubesizer which I am still using.

I have both.I can not tell any difference in performance between the two brands, but I strongly prefer the Lyman because they stamp the size on the top of the die where you can read it when installed in the lubrisizer.
