Digger, I’m not sure that will work for the actual Ben’s Red (beeswax based lube), but it will make an awful big batch of Ben’s Liquid Lube (BLL).

I like them both! Good find.

I’ve got a pint of mixed BLL and one can of the Johnson’s Wax. But what the hay… it’ll probably last my lifetime , I’ll soon be 74.

Glad I stocked up on the Johnson’s liquid floor wax while it was still available for making BLL. Got plenty of Johnson’s paste wax for making Ben’s Red also.
Both of those lubes work equally well with every cast load I have from mild to wild. Excellent accuracy and no leading in my handguns or rifles.....600 FPS. to 2600 FPS.
Ben sure made cast boolit shooting easy.

I have both lubes but I never shot any rifle boolits with it. Would BLL alone handle 30-30 loads? I still get nervous about using traditional lube, if I want to push the boolit 2000fps I feel like it needs powder coat to be "safe" from leading.

Dimaprok: after using BLL I see no point in powder coating. This lube is absolutely one of the best kept secrets on this forum. I have used it for .22 caliber cast boolits in the 2400 fps range and it works remarkably well. Ben is to be commended for releasing this lube recipe to us!

I use 3 light coats of BLL in my rifle loads @ 2200 to 2600 FPS.... no leading. Of course boolit fit is king, but provided that, BLL works just as well as Ben’s Red and provides a dry finish to the boolit.

Thanks fellas, I got some gas checked 22 bullets that I'll give that a try. I found that in my 221 FB over 12+ grains of 2400 it shot great powder coated and velocity ranged 2500 - 2700 fps with 60gr NOE, that rivaled the jacketed in velocity but the better accuracy was around 2500 fps which is totally fine with me.

In 30 cal I got a bunch to try as well in my 30-30 and 308, I only pushed it around 2000 fps, this is where I found it was most accurate with 4198 so sound like BLL could handle that.

warren5421. ~. I believe a proper substitute for Johnson's is a product called LUNDMARK. Still a floor wax but do-able in Ben's recipe.

How long is Ben's Red good for? It's been a very long time since I've done much casting and lubing. I found plenty that I had, big plans for, but never transpired cause you know, life. Anyway it's going to get melted and tried.
