Nice one. I have had several pump .22's but never that one.

I know your feeling! Hope it gives you the warm and fuzzies whenever you take it out for a walk. I bought mine new about 20 years ago. Kept it pristine until last year. Went squirrel hunting, had to take the boat up the lake a bit to get to our hunting spot. Dang, got back home that night and noticed a ding in the stock. Musta hit it on something while w were in the boat. Dang.
But, it still shoots just fine. I also have an 12 gauge 870 and a 30-06 760 so they all handle the same. Love that set of guns.

My father has the pump one too. He shot many coons with it. We used to do a lot of coon hunting in the 70's when hides were up back then. He used to say ''im gonna shot this thing out one of these days''. He still has it and uses it for squirrels and pest control. I dated mine. Feb of 76.

Mine had some scratches on the pump on the upper part. I covered them with some Tru-oil. I have a 760 in 30.06 too. And a model 31 12 ga. I agree they are a nice remington set. I also have a 770 in 30.06. A lot of folks bust on them. Im very happy with mine. I just put a Vortex diamond back on it. For shooting at the range with steel out to 300 yards.

Love my Fieldmaster, my first NIB .22. Paid a lot less than 5 bills though in 1977 or 1978.

I had one I inherited till this summer when I let it go. My initial excitement quickly turned to disappointment when it would not pattern into 5 inches at 50 yards. It was a beautiful rifle that would not shoot. I bought a borescope a few weeks later and always wondered what I would have found in that barrel that gave such bad accuracy.

Now, I am sticking to single shots and bolt actions for their simplicity.

The 572 I used to own had the barrel attached to the receiver with a screw under the barrel. This screw had a tendency to work loose. When it did, accuracy went away.
The design was pretty poor in that regard.
It was very accurate and fun to shoot when new and tight. It just wouldn't stay that way.

Tazman, that could be it. I never felt any looseness, but that doesn't mean anything in my case. It was a nice rifle, if not for the accuracy issue.
