Not primers, but we were swamped with orders one year and kept running a piece of equipment that needed to do down for maintenance. But S&M (not Sadist and Masochist, but Sales and Marketing) demanded we keep running. Well one day it failed catastrophically. Instead of a 36-48 hour rebuild we were down for 5 days.

I doubt CCI would run out of primers if everything was running smoothly, but imagine a small explosion. Primers can do that. Or a piece of equipment that fails and parts are not readily available.

Just like Home depot and Lowes. They've been gouging on construction materials for a year. It isnt the suppliers bumping prices 3 and 4 times prepandemic. It is the final retailer. I buy MDF sheets quarterly. 10 years ago half inch was $18 to 19 a sheet. slowly moved up to $26 to 28 a sheet by 2019. 2020 went to $33 and this year $36 and today $44 a sheet. I guarantee the wholesale price is still down near $20 a sheet. Primers are no different. Wholesale price is up.... rather significantly, and retail price can be gouged by a lot of companies

Pretty sure everyone knows there are serious supply chain issues going on right now. CCI doesn't magically have all of the chemicals and brass on hand to create primers. That stuff must be shipped in. Could be their primer division was short-staffed. There are major issues with disgruntled employees right now. People are quitting left and right as 24/7 operations for the past year is causing burn-out.

At my company, we manufacture a very specific industry product and rely on components from all over the world. We are facing shortages and have had to shut down lines due to lack of parts.

Everyone is having to deal with supply chain issues.

Interesting. Every Failing Project/Program I ever took over used similar language to describe how they had gotten into their predicament - failing to do continual analysis, long rage planning, Risk evaluation and Risk Management, and having Plan B-C-D-...X-Y & Z should obstacles occur resulting in such conditions. We will probably continue to disagree; but I see serious failing by Management (and of course our political climate) as the cause of shortages. My comments are not from a side chair observer; rather from a person who has "Been there and Done That". Of course my background before that was in a life where philosophies were more in line with "Do whatever it takes", "No excuses accepted", and "OK it didn't work what are you going to do about making it right?"

The truth is the variety of mega corporations we rely upon for our goods and services are less committed to meeting those goods and services needs than are many of our population.
