I'm sure this has been discussed but I'm just terrible at finding articles in the forums so feel free to point me in the right direction.

I've come into a 22 TCM rifle. I received two boxes of ammo along with dies for a steal of a price.

So I'll shoot the factory ammo of course and reload it but I plan on cutting down 223 cases as I have a good supply.

Here's the question(s): Do you have to inside ream the neck after forming? Do you have to turn the outside of the neck also?

According to Wikipedia, the case is 1.025" long, so the neck will be formed from the middle of the .223 case body.

I am going to say yes, you will have to either inside ream or outside turn. Reaming will probably yield a better looking case.

brass not hard to get around here. Know a guy with a bunch now. I bought 1000 just to not have to play with those jigs. lol

I’ve been making 22 TCM brass out of .223 lately since TCM brass is getting harder to find. I’ve also started casting my projectiles using the Lyman 225107 mold since Armscore projectiles are also starting to get hard to find.

Brownells has TCM powder that is specifically made for that cartridge at the bargain price of ~$25 a pound (+ hazmat). While there are a few loads for 44 mag and hot 45 Colts there are not that many other uses for it though.

I just started forming my own 22tcm cases from 223. I cut the brass to 1.068 and annealed. Then reformed in a Hornady die, trimmed to lenght and chamfered. I did a drop test in my barrel and it worked really well. The case necks are to thick but I have a .222 reamer on the way. That will give me .002 neck tension. I am going to load Hornady 35 grain Vmax bullets. Now that all beig said, has anybody gone this route before that can give me any advice or other info? All help appreciated.

I have purchased convert brass before. The mouth of the brass is chaffered to make bullet insertion easier.
I had issues with reliable loading (making rounds).
Running on a Dillion 550, I had no issues using factory new / once fired brass but when I used the converted brass I would get rounds that would not drop in the case checker

It was on Cast Boolits but a different thread. I fired a ladder with the formed brass today didn't chronograph Friday is a pretty busy day at the range and I didn't want to be in anybodies way. I loaded a ladder from 10.2 grains to 11.4. Up to11 grains everything functioned fine. At 11.2 I blew a primer and had a small Crack in one case. The cracked case was one that got off center when I reamed it, the blown primer make have been loose. The other 3 rounds looked fine. I probably should have stopped there but I fired the 5 11.4 grain rounds and they had no issues, the primers looked good and they cycled fine but accuracy was not as good as the 11 grain loads. I am going to load up some at 11 and chronograph them to see how they do. I am going to use the cases that was fired today as they will be fireformed to my pistol.
One other step will be cutting cases that I am forming a little longer and trimming them before forming them to square up the cases I believe that will help center the reamer.
