i have three 91 argentine mausers, two 1916 spanish (93)mausers, one 95 chilean mauser, one 20/34 venezuelan mauser, one 1908 brazilian mauser and a type 99 arisaka(the 93s and the 95 are just actions/ everything else was bubba sporterized).
i think i have a couple more mausers, such as the sporterized 98 mauser in 8x57, husqvarna m46 in 9.3x57 and a couple more i forgot.
i like old old military sporters. the today's black plastic crud rifle is cheap. the throw-away-society is a shame, but keep on makin them because they are cheap.
manufacturers don't have the heart anymore, just the pockets of their customers.
i'll take up a old and beat up 1916 spanish before i take a new and cheap rifle. although i can't do steel work anymore, i do the wooden stock anyday(er.....as well as a one armed guy can) i have a gunsmith to do my steel work, like d&t, taking off and putting a new barrel, hot bluing......things like that. i've done a couple of dayton traister triggers and put on a 2 position safety, things that i (one armed guy) can do.
