308 light load with light bullets

Friend is looking for some loads.
Bolt action 308. Custom barrel. Gets less than 1/2" at 100.
With powder getting hard to get here, looking for reduced load with light bullets.
    He ordered 115gr and 125gr.
Doesn't have to be a hunting load.
    Just target shooting.
He won't shoot boolets through his rifle.

Depending on the barrel twist the light projectiles, going slow may not stabilize properly. That being said, start at a low end published load and start backing off in smaller increments until you get where you want.

"The Load" as published by Ed Harris many years ago would be a good place start.

Look up Seafire, and his Bluedot loads. Bluedot is phenominal for reduced power rifle loads, both jacketed and cast. Even at the top end, where you are running speeds 75% of what you get from a slower rifle powder, recoil is dramatically reduced due to less powder weight, and less perceived muzzle blast.

IMR 4198 can be used. Start with 23 grs, work up to the velocity you want. Watch for pressure signs. I am using it in 6.5 Creedmoor now. Bought 8 lbs. Great of 223 also.
