For use in my Russian SKS and Mini Mk X Mauser I use 17.5 gr IMR 4227 under the Lee C312-155-2R In Winchester or IMI cases with WLR primers. However, I prefer to use H4895 with that bullet. Where IMR 4227 excels for me in the 7.62x39 is with 123-125 gr SP or FMJ bullets. I load them over 22.5 gr IMR 4227 in the same cases and primers. They run 2350 - 2400 fps out of my SKS and the measured psi is the same as Russian service 7.62x39 milsurp ammo.

I know you already got your answer but, The 7.62x39 and .30 Herrett are pretty close to the same powder capacity. Grab a Contender load book and go from there.
