Yesterday evening the wife and I were hunting a big hay field, she texted me and asked me if I was ready to go, I told her to give it 10 more minutes, then we would be out of light. I only needed 8, he walked out of the woods by a bush i had ranged at 165 yds. I put my 150 yd BDC hash mark on him, since I was aiming downhill and would shoot a little higher. As I pulled the trigger, he flew backwards, and landed on his back, all 4 legs straight up, then flopped over, DRT. I was very happy to shoot the buck, small 6 pt, #140 gutted, and mud fat. I have to get around on 2 crutches, due to being crippled up from 3 strokes, but have a burning desire to deer hunt, and my wife works with me to make it happen, I am truly blessed in more ways than one. I was using a TC Omega with a Harvester brand crush rib sabot, and a .451-300gr PT, copper jacketed ballistic tip, Harvester brand also. I was using BH 209, 100grs, running the bullet about 2100fps. I hit him quartering hard towards me, thru the shoulder, top of the heart and both lungs, blew a 1 inch exit hole. This made the 26th deer I have killed with the 300 gr, from 30 yds to 280, drilling thru both shoulders, and have never recovered a slug, the penetrate like nobodys business. I will send some pics to TBG for him to post. This made my 83rd deer with a muzzleloader. Thanks for listening.
