#10 is smaller, and will not usually fit on a #11 size nipple. However, a #11 cap can be pinched to make it a tight fit on a #10 size nipple. Best plan is to use the appropriate cap for your particular gun.

You can swap out the nipple and it will work fine.

I use 10 on my pistols and my CVA hawken manual said it was an 11, but 10's work on it and I ahve to pinch 11's to stay on during the hunt. Missed an 8 point one time when one fell of and I did not know.

Best bet is to try various brands and sizes of caps. You can use a loose fitting cap if you just squeeze the open end a LITTLE BIT, making it a bit oblong and sliding it on the nipple. Different nipples and different size caps fit differently. Use Nev'r Seize on the nipples and don't tighten excessively, just snug.

If I can find a link I came across a page once that had the measurements of CCI and Remington caps and why a #11 in one may fit better than the other.

Here it is,interesting read for anybody who uses a caplock or cap&ball pistol.
