    Cleaning out a Lube sizer

I don't have a pot big enough to submerge my Saeco lube sizer so I can clean out the old lube. It's always been a struggle, especially if the lube has hardened. I've tried a heat gun, a propane torch, turning up the heated base, but nothing worked to my satisfaction. Until I discovered my wife's electric tea kettle. A few pots of boiling water over and inside of the thing and it's perfectly clean! It seems to be the simple solutions that take me the longest to figure out. If any of you are solutionally challenged like me, this might work.

Hmmm. I always had good luck with a propane torch.

You can often find those big, thin, el cheapo Alum. kitchen pots at Goodwill and even the scrap yard for a couple bucks.

I use a slow cooker I bought at a resale shop.
After the lube melts out I shut it down and let the lube harden. It
is easy to clean anything left behind.
The solid lube sheet makes very nice wax wads.

I turned the sizer upside down and laid a hair dryer next to it with the heat on. Took about half an hour to melt all the lube out.

I take the screws out and use a large solder iron.

The only time I cleaned out my sizers was to switch over to powder coating, even then it really wasn't necessary if I did not add any lube. Why did you have to clean it in the first place?

Gary, I have one with a homemade lube in it. Wanted to clean it out so I know what I'm sending down my barrel.
