First clean that barrel. You've got lead over copper almost certainly if you did not scrub out the copper before you started on lead. Get the lead out and then get all the copper out and start over.

Sounds like you've got the beginnings of a good load. Use it in a clean barrel with an adequate lube and enjoy.

NOE makes expander buttons that fit the Lee Universal expansion die. If you don't have the Lee die look into the Lyman M die to expand your cases. This expands the mouth of the case and gives you a little shelf for the boolit to set straight on when you put it in the case. Makes seating the boolit much easier.

I tried 42g above, and it was accurate with little to no leading. I suspect the small amount that was there was from before. It may take some time to get it all out. The published velocity by Lyman is 1258fps - I'm shooting whitetails and hogs around here, 100yd is a good distance. Should work great. Mild shooting compared to 50-55g loads lol.. So glad to understand this small part of shooting cast, thanks for all the help. I'll look into powder coating also, seems like a cool idea.

I have had remarkable sucess with the ACME 405 Hi Tek bullet in the 45-70 1886. I use 2015BR, now 2015, and my 50 yard target with three shots measured .518 center to center. Its very accurate and I need to test it out to distance next. Here is a target from that session. I use the back of a 2x3 poster as I didn't know where they would print. I think if you tried a .460" bullet with about 12 grains of Unique you would feel you struck gold. Just a thought. By the way that load will kill anything which walks North America!
