New Brass Purchase Question

Purchased some new brass for my 74 Sharps, which is chambered for 45-70 Government. My rifle has a longish chamber, so I usually buy 45 90 and trim it to length. In these crazy times, Starline, which is my preferred brand, is nowhere to be found. But I found, and bought, 100 rounds of Jamison brass, headstamped "45-90 Win" (Winchester?), which looks close.

Can 45-90 Winchester be trimmed and sized to 45-70 Government?

Thanks in advance for all your help, in this and all my other dumb questions over the years.

Expensive way to get .45-70 brass, sure. I trim .45-70 to .45-60 for an 1876 NWMP carbine. Back in the day gun makers refused to put another company’s ammo stamp on their guns barrel so they created their own ammo even if identical to another brands loading. .44WCF [Winchester center fire] = .44-40

That's what I had hoped to hear. The Starline cases have "star line" printed as well as "45-90", but no "Sharps", just different enough to give pause. Starline 45-70 Government cases don't have the word "Starline", but their logo instead. What ever happened to "standardization"?

You could shorten those Jamison brass, but they are thicker and tapered down in front of the flash hole, so you may end up with less case capacity than the Starline. I shoot the Jamison exclusively in my 45-90's and size them down for the 44-90 st.

Jamison made a run of .40-82WCF about 20 odd years ago. It was perfect for an OLD Win 1886, Much better then necking down starline .45- 2.4 and reaming. Expanded far better to fill the chamber with BP loads. I'd prefer it over starline in any caliber.
