Lee hand primer and 44 mag cases

Hey guys i was priming some 44s today and noticed some rounds wouldnt go into the shell holder at all. Ive never ran into this problem before. Would this be a brass issue or shell holder issue.

Are you using the #11 shell holder? What brand of brass is it?

It could be a little of both.
sounds like it's time to do some measuring.

Also, did you notice if the problem was rim thickness or rim Diameter?

I have run into this problem with a couple of 38spl cases. I can't remember what brand they were but there was no rebate in the rim area. I have also had a couple where the rebate (between the base and the main body of the case) was to narrow for the shell holder. This was using both Lee and RCBS shell holders. If it is just a couple of pieces of brass look them over well and see if the above are a problem. If it is a lot find a new shell holder.

This is a problem I've seen as well. The interference is due to the diameter of the rim, not the thickness. In my experience, once the sharp edge at the opening of the shell holder wears away just a tiny bit, the shell holder works fine. Touch it with a jeweler's file and I'll bet your problem goes away.
