Pedersoli .32 Cub Kit , First impressions

I received my latest rifle kit today.
It is a Pedersoli , Deluxe .32 "Cub" full stock Flint Lock.
My first impressions are Very Good.
The rifle comes basically assembled.
The wood to metal fit looks pretty good for a kit.
The barrel has a coating of bluing , but only to prevent rust.
I am going to Brown the barrel after I finish the stock.
The barrel finish is good for a kit , and will take only minor polishing before I brown the barrel.
The stock is a nice looking Walnut.
It needs only minor fitting like around the sides of the stock and the patch box.
This is Truly a Skill Level 1 Kit.
The lock seems nice for a rifle of this price.
But I will tune it up a bit , but that is just something I do to get max. performance out of a lower cost lock.
All the Brass Parts are about 90% finished and basically just need minor fitting and polishing.
So far , I like this rifle and can't wait to get started on it.

I got it from Dixie Gun Works.
To me , the price of the Kit is Reasonable.
I got the kit over a finished rifle , only because I like to do minor modifications to dress up the rifle.
But this rifle being the Deluxe model there isn't to many things that I want to dress up.
And being able to do all the work on finishing myself , it saved me $180.00.

I love small bore black powder rifles. I've simply never had more fun than in the squirrel woods with a flintlock. Cant wait to see pics. It will be all the better as you finish it to your liking. Good luck.

For some reason , my computer won't load and send them.
Maybe I should buy a new computer.
Hmmm , I wonder if they sell computer Kits so I can save some money on one .

$710.00 plus $17.00 shipping.
Got it in 5 days.
The Blunderbuss Kit that I got from Pecatonica a few months ago cost me around $800.00.
But it was of a higher quality like the lock.
But the stock needed much more fitting and shaping.
All the brass hardware was also just sand cast and needed a lot of shaping and polishing.
The Traditions Crocket Kit that I bought for my wife was about $500.00.
It is Fair quality but very serviceable and the kit was listed as a Skill level 3 but very easy to assemble with a minimum amount of tools.
I almost forgot.
I also have a Lyman GPR kit that I haven't put together.
I also bought a Hunter faster twist for it so I have barrels to shoot Balls and Conicals .
The Lyman Kit is a Skill Level 3 or 4.
It looks like a reasonable quality Kit and will work great for a large game rifle .
I bought it 4 years ago for around $550.00 and another $250.00 for the second barrel.
It has Iron Furniture and I intend on adding a patch box to the stock , which I just bought off TOTW.

I've got a Pedersoli .45 cal. percussion Pennsylvania rifle kit sitting in the corner of the dining room that I need to get started on. You are right about their kits, there's very little left to be done.
My problem with Dixie gun works is that they are too close. It's a little less than 1 1/2 hour drive up there and I seem to have acquired a few of their kits.

I am also working on 2 pedersoli kits from Dixie.
One is the Brown bess carbine kit, .75 calibre smooth bore. I think its called a trade gun kit. Its a flintlock.
The other is the pedersoli Pennsylvania rifle kit, in .50 calibre, flint lock.
These are very nice kits. the Penn rifle dosn't need much work at all.
The Brown Bess kit is a little more involved.
Im happy with them.
I'll probably get another one to make during the fast approaching winter.

Anyone who is thinking of building a kit should look at the Pedersoli line, they are good quality.

Just as an update.
I haven't had the time to get started on this kit YET.
I just have so many other rifles I am working on and out hunting Quail.
But I probably will start just after Thanksgiving
