    300 Win Mag load????

Guy I met is looking for 300 Win Mag ammo.
None to be found here, and he's going hunting on Molokai next month.
I have bullets, primers and cases.
    150gr to 180gr bullets.
    Different kinds of powder.
    I've read that I4350, H4350, I4831, RL22 are good.
    Any suggestions?????

I've had my best luck with 180s and IMR 4831 at around 90% of the max charge for a couple of different .300WinMags.

RL22 also has almost a cult following.

I love RL22 with 180 gr noslers in my 300 Wby. I get consistent moa or better and very clean burning. Mine are about 90% loads too. Bet you can find a similar load for the win mag.

I no longer have 300 win mag but when I was loading it was always just like Mr winger ed 180 gr bullets and 4831. I played around with the hybrid 100 when it first came out but the imr4831 to the 300 win mag were like old friends, like two peas in a pod. it just works well, just like 4350 in the 30-06 with 165 grain bullets

I load H4831 and 165gr Nosler Partitions in my 300 Why.
I have harvested everything from ground squirrels to moose with it.
Every one DRT with well placed shots.

I use IMR4350 with 180gr. win-west power point for 3008fps sub 1" groups have had them faster but not accurate slowed them down to best grouping.

I use a Nosler 180 grn partition and IMR 4831 The older works very well in these big cases. The newer IMR 4831 short cut even better and it meters through a powder measure better. I was working with IMR 7828 with promising results also.

Stick with the slower powders in this larger case to keep airspace down.

Check your seater die and techniques. The short neck and long bullets make run out a real issue

My rifle is a Number 1 in 300 win mag and OAL is just off the lands to allow easy loading. I just touch the shoulder with the sizing die and dont use an expander ball but a bushing to set neck tension.

Also a bullet designed for the 308 or 30-30 velocities may become explosive at upper end 300 win mag velocities. This was a big reason the partitions were made.

I have used both IMR 4831 and H1000 under 180 Partitions and 180 Speer HotCors. Accuracy was just a little better with the H1000 - maybe 1/2" smaller group at 300 yards.

I have shot 110 grain Vmax right up to 220 silvertips.
110gr were a necessity to be able to shoot more than a few per outing. The last 110gr loadings I was hitting 1 MOA. The big heavy loads were ok for hunting but not much fun for an afternoon at the range.
What kind of game, size, would you need a 300 Win Mag for on Molokai? Goats? Wild boar?

For jacketed bullets in a 300 Winchester mag , I have never needed a different powder 4831 works . My choice has been IMR 4831 , but that's just my choice .
I would suggest in 8 lb container .

my favorite powder for both the 300 win and H&H is re19. Re 22 or 7828 do a bit better in the wby. Like others have said 4831 is another good one. no need for anything slower then re19 or 4831 if your loading bullets no heavier then 180s.

    when I had a 300 wm I used a lot of 4831 and 4350 in mine
    later rl-22 was used
follow book loadings and you will find a good load with the powders you listed
depending on the game hunted I would not use 150's in the 300 mag
