Shooting a reprimed, original copper .56-50 rimfire cartridge

I got to the range today with my Remington split breech carbine to test a reloaded 1864-1865 vintage C.D. Leet made .56-50 rimfire cartridge. The case was cleaned out and annealed. Then the rim was reprimed and the original 155 year old powder was put back in. A new bullet, almost an exact duplicate of the original was then seated and crimped in place. Then out to the range with the split breech and the chronograph

    Steve,

    That was amazing!
Fantastic work on reloading that original Spencer round!
I wonder if repriming a Sage Ammunition Works cartridge would make them reliable...
Assuming you're going to reload the cartridge and fire it again???

Thanks guys. The repriming process is the same for any old rimfire. A few weeks ago I did the same thing with the .56-50's close cousin, a .56-52 Spencer cartridge. Here is a video if that one.

I don't think it was too brittle. But I annealed it before reloading it just to be sure it was soft.

thank you. I was going to ask you if you annealed it be fore loading & firing it? great that it went off without a hitch!. can a case rim run out of areas to reprime, too many dent's in it to ignite? I think it is great that you are bringing these old rim fires back to life! please keep EM comming.
