Need very thin material for pocket knife scales

I have an old pocket knife of my Grandad's. It is an Ambassador "gimme" knife he got as a promotion. Cheap but sharpens to a shaving keen edge quickly and also has a can opener/screwdriver blade I like.

The original imitation mother of pearl scales came off as the glue aged and I would like to find some kind of material to replace it with. Very thin, so the wood pieces I have I might use for a fixed blade won't fit.

    Any suggestions?

I suggest replacing it with some cattle bone. Its durable and looks nice too. Culpepper is where I get mine from. They are the go to place for cattle bone knife handles. They supply the bone for all the major knife companies such as Case, Bear & Sons, Great Eastern, etc.. They have several different jigging patterns and just about any color you can imagine. You can check them out here.https://knifehandles.com/smooth-jigg...d-jigged-bone/ They have the dimensions, including thickness listed. I suggest using Acraglass epoxy from Brownells to attach them.

Cattle horn is easy to procure and is very user friendly. Soaked in boiling water before cutting to rough fit, securing it in place and sanding it to desired effect is very rewarding.

ive seen the jantz items at smokey mt knife works , they are I guess a major source for knife making stuff.
ive got a skinning knife and a small bowie kit with a couple blocks of scale material and brass rivets that I have yet to put together that are jantz.

Maple can be worked very thin and not crack. If you can get it worked thin enough and then seal it with superglue, it might do.

Old piano keys may be an option also if you need something that thin.

Well, I've got 3/32 maple & oak in the kindling pile and I have some old piano keys. Shoot me your address and I'll sent you an envelope. Heck, I can rip you cherry or walnut if you would like.
