Hope not, 18 grains in a 375 Ouch & Ouch under a cast boolit is just plain fun.

And I've only have a couple of pounds on the shelf.

I don't think Alliant Blue Dot has been discontinued, but IMR Blue has.

Alliant Blue Dot is a super powder for down loaded J bullets in almost every rifle I have.

I had issues with my 12 ga 7/8 oz Blue Dot cas loads in cold weather. Erratic and weak rounds. It was an unopened can that was gifted me so I wasn’t out anything, used it during warm months until it was gone.

Blue Dot changed over the years. Herc Blue Dot was slower than the Alliant flavor.

IMR Blue reminds me of the original Blue Dot. It's slower than the current Alliant Blue Dot. It's a shame it's already been discontinued. I've got a couple of good loads using it.

I agree Alliant Blue Dot is very good for reduced rifle loads. I loaded 20g Alliant Blue Dot into a 458 Win Mag case with a 400g HC bullet on top using a fiber wad as filler. It was all day fun.

    Later,
    Stephen

There was a warning about Blue Dot use several years ago about it being sensitive in cold weather loads. I wrote them about the warning and they answered me right away that the load I was using was perfectly safe in my .41 magnum; it was a reduced load with a 210 grain SWC lead bullet. If I remember correctly the warning was intended for those people shooting top end loads in cold weather as it was indeed temperature sensitive. james

Over the last 10 years or so I have been using herco & steel when loading heavy shot shell loads because of the lack of blue dot . It seems the company is more interested in making new powders than the older dependable powders .

If you don't mind sharing, I can't find any loads for the 41 with Blue dot

Don't think it has been discontinued.
I just found a pound at a local gun shop today. $31.95...
