    Timney Triggers and the Mauser?????

Been out of the loop the past year or so on working on my rifles.
I went to upgrade one of my 98 Mausers (1936 Mexican type) the other day to a Timney trigger I had bought new a few years ago.
It doesn't want to work right .
I am thinking it is for a 1895 or 93-96 type?
It has the curved sear, that will function for a cocking piece that is the military type with the Vee notch in it but seems the sear of the Timney is in the wrong place,,,, to far rearward maybe?
I have the original 1936 Mexican cocking piece on it as is the bolt shroud but the safety is the old Buehler style. and is a Buehler.
It is hard to cock and the safety will not function at all , the Tigger trips just fine but is hard to cock afterwards.
The Sportsman type trigger is new and I bought it without the box and appears to be factory set not messed with.
I went to the Timney website for information but Timney has done away with all sportsman triggers for this action and only sells the featherweight type triggers with the flat head sear of which I never had one that would function with a Vee type military type cocking piece. Am I wrong and not seeing this correctly or what am I missing here? Please chime in.

    A 96 will not work on a 98.
The solid soft lead bullet is undoubtably the best and most satisfactory expanding bullet that has ever been designed. It invariably mushrooms perfectly, and never breaks up. With the metal base that is essential for velocities of 2000 f.s. and upwards to protect the naked base, these metal-based soft lead bullets are splendid.

Forget everything you know about loading jacketed bullets. This is a whole new ball game!
