    Got the ground blinds out.

Archery season is October 1. I like to let things settle down a few weeks before season.

Hunted quite a bit with pop up blinds when my boys were small. Pretty good, but I'd be in a tree if I was hunting there, I strongly prefer to be off the ground.

That said, I've killed about as many from the ground as from trees and last year both of the ones I killed were sitting in a chair on a ridge overlooking a well-used trail. I was in a blind of sorts, up under a cedar tree I had brushed in. The main thing is being still and quiet.

These are primarily for turkeys. I am putting up ladder stands for deer. Also have a climber.

I got my blind and duck decoys out a few days ago. Been blowing on the calls too, been looking forward to this hunting season more than normal.

You'd be a lot better off if you put that first one back in that brush, with holes only big enough for the windows. You might even find they work better than tree stands.

The first one is where two patches of woods open into a gap between fields. Flicks if turkeys regularly work the edges fattening up on grasshoppers. Behind where the picture is taken from is standing corn. The ground in front of it was just sown in winter wheat, clover, and turnips.

I'd still brush that in at least a little bit. That sticks out so bad, you may as well park a camper trailer back there.

It had turkeys scratching within 20 yards of it last year.

I throw a bug bomb in this one every October since 2006 when I built it. Deer, turkeys, and pigs pay it little mind. I've taken all three from it but a standout was the nice 8point 40 feet away that I sat down (literally)with my .54 Plains Pistol. Like White Eagle said, they get used to it. I killed a buck on opening day 3 weeks after building "Mi Casita".

i have 3 spots where my girls and i hunt. one is a ground blind, one is a 2 person ladder stand and the third is a 7x12 house with a heater and multiple windows. Aside from those 3 i still hunt a little during season.
