Sizing Die Caliber Interchangeability Reference Chart

Sorry, if this exists somewhere on th forum already. I did my best searching for it..

Since I find more and more dies on my shelf (and running out of space) and the number of calibers I (want to) shoot keeps rising, I want to get the most out of what I have already and with the knowledge this forum has, it should be a breeze..

You know something along the lines of:

    Die Caliber - also loads:
    .454 Casull - .45 Colt
    .41 Action Express - .41 Remington Magnum
.45-70 Govt - that weird swedish Rolling Block caliber
    .44 Magnum - ..

and so on. So, again, if this exists already, I'd appreciate you guys letting me know about it. If there's not, maybe we could start a shared living document "in the cloud" somewhere..

    Thx!

I know you can use 454 casull for 45 colt (and 45 Scofield), 10mm for 40 s&w and 357 mag for 38 special.

You can use a 9x19 (9mm Luger) sizing die for 9x21 and 9x23. You can also use a .38 Super sizing die to size .38 S&W brass in a pinch, since they're pretty close in diameter. It also goes without saying that a .44 Magnum sizing die will also size .44 Special, and most of the other straight wall .44 caliber revolver rounds. My .45-120 Sharps sizing die can be used to size .45-70, .45-90, etc.

    Hope this helps.

I use the Lee .303 collet neck sizer to neck size .303, 30-40 krag, and 7.62x54R.
Lee also repurposes the 7.62x54R factory crimp for 7.5x54 French since they’re same length.

I've used the 308 FCD and sizer for 30-30 neck sizing .

7-08 will neck size 7×57 and 280 Rem and make a passible seater it will also neck size and seat 7-30 Waters .

45 ACP with caution may be used for Colts and Schofield as a neck die . Some chambers may be too tight .

I've used 9mm for 38/357 but it wouldn't go the other way .

Any AI die may be used as a neck die for the standard .
458 WM makes a nice lower half body and belt die for most belted mags .

All of these are Band Aids of course and not the best way to do things . The right dies is the best way .

Keep the extra die sets . You never know when an odd dia expander , forming step die , etc might come in handy . I mean who has a 6.5-257 Roberts AI ? I don't either but with the .257 expander/decapping pin in it it's a perfect neck dia , no touch , die for cast in Dad's 257 Roberts for the .260-120 FP NOE through a .260 sizer .
Who needs 4 sets of 45 Colts dies ? Well I didn't mean to , but here I am . I don't need 2.5 sets of 45-70 either . 6.5 Japanese yes I need 2 sets , 06' not so much but 2 sets and an extra sizer live on the bench .
