My Father in law would chop up a can, put it in a pot on the stove with a bag of Great Northern beans and a couple of onions and other stuff... Cook it from sun up to sun down.
It usually took him 3-4 days to eat it all.

I just like it fried crisp w/eggs or as a sammich with mustard and onion.
    I HATE auto-correct

Happiness is a Warm GUN & more ammo to shoot in it.

My Experience and My Opinion, are just that, Mine.

    Chop up the Can?
I prefer the chopped up Hog parts from inside the Can

Same here every 2 weeks at least. Add a hash brown patty to the air fryer and a couple fried eggs on the side with sour dough toast and man' I'm hungry!!

SPAM fried rice, yummy! My favorite rendition is Jalapeño SPAM. Thin sliced SPAM and scalloped potatoes is also a winner!

Thanks. Maybe a mod' can merge the threads? Sorry, but I never found the old thread.

Reading those posts reminded me of an uncle who served in WW2, he would never touch Spam. I guess he had it for every meal for a very long time.

Another uncle in the Merchant Marine back then I never heard him mention it one way or another.

I like it but I like to render it out to crisp it up like bacon is my favorite way. My only complaint is the saltiness. I wish they made the bacon version with lower salt. I also fry it up to shy of that "crispy bacon" stage. But it must be rendered out.

Have you noticed ... the Jalapeno Spam has that lovely shade / tint of Green to it !
I know it's Spam ... and it doesn't taste bad but ... the green colored meat just looks un-appetizing.
Presentation counts in a food contest !
My favorite flavors are Classic and Teriyaki .
I haven't tried the Tocino flavored ... yet , but would like to . The written description sounds like something I would enjoy ... I'm keeping an eye out for it.

(They're inside the body cavity, near the base of the tail, and look like two oversize marbles)

Clean & skin it. Boil it 30-40 minutes.
Make a batter of 1 1/2 cups flour, 3 cups milk, 2 eggs, 2 tbs baking powder. & 1/2 tsp salt. It should look like cake batter.
Cut it up, dip in the batter and fry the pieces in lard until golden brown.

Or, use it in your favorite raccoon recipe.
    Just like Cooter. Yum.

I live in an area with a large population of people who have a Polish background, myself included. There is a small Polish food store which does a lively business. In that store they carry a variety of Polish potted meats. So I will buy a can of Polish "SPAM" from time to time.

I like it for camping food. Something quick and easy to cook up or if need be, cold.
