So one more question if I may.

In the opinion of the knowledgeable folks here, is the cast iron A2 press strong enough to swage jacketed bullets?

I ask because ultimately I want to get set up to make jacketed bullets out of 22 rimfire cases.

That’s the reason Fred Huntington invented that press. Using his dies to swage .22 jacketed bullets exposed the weak points in conventional C- and H-style presses, and suggested the improvements he incorporated into the RCBS presses.

The cast steel was Brooklyn Bridge-style overdesign. The O-frame in cast iron is plenty strong enough. I’ve swaged a lot of .22 rimfire jacket bullets on a cast-iron Rockchucker.

You might need a replacement solid ram section for the punches. The regular extensions with the cutouts for shell holders and priming arms sometimes bent or collapsed after a lot of heavy-duty swaging. I’ve never had that happen myself, however.
