#75--Thanks for the Birthday Greetings

l appreciate the BD Greetings from ''Cast Boolits'' for #75.
l celebrated appropriately by pouring up some 20 pounds of 44 boolits for the Ga State IHMSA Match later this month.
An old Hensley & Gibbs mould #142 got a workout too. That four cavity seemed a lot HEAVIER today!
I wonder WHY

[Old Caster]

I am now an Old Caster at 77 and started casting in 1965 when the AMU had me shooting Bullseye and casting and reloading 38 wadcutters and 45 SWC in Germany. 38 special brass was the biggest hangup because they weren't used there. Lead from the backstop was primarily where we got our lead and we had to pressure pour around 800 degrees because most of the lead was 22 which was pretty close to pure at that time. We used Remington 22 standard velocity target ammo then and had about one alibi for every 500 rounds. Amazing how much better things are now. We used only 3.5 grains of bullseye with a 200 grain bullet for the 45 and 2.7 grains for the 148 grain 38. With the 38 a score of 95 at 50 yards was quite common and with the 45 it was around 90. The 10 ring is around 3 inches and of course we only used iron sights at that time.
